Shoes for people with diabetes that protect the feet from friction, pressure and injury: all-leather, with no internal seams, made to measure by Germany's Schein–LucRo, at Egnatia 101.

If you have diabetes, your feet need special care, and the shoes you wear every day play a big part in it. At Hlamidis Orthopaedic Center, Egnatia 101 in Thessaloniki, you will find diabetic shoes that make walking easier and protect the lower limbs from injuries and ulcers. We work exclusively with the German footwear company Schein–LucRo.
Diabetes can affect sensation (neuropathy) and circulation in the feet. As a result, a small rub or pressure point can go unnoticed and develop into a sore. That is why people with diabetes cannot wear just any shoe: careful foot care must go hand in hand with suitable footwear. A proper diabetic shoe is not a luxury but part of everyday care. For the prevention and monitoring of diabetic foot problems, always follow your doctor's instructions.
Knowing the needs of people with diabetes, we have chosen shoes that:

A shoe works best together with the right insole. With a foot scan we can see where pressure builds up on the sole of your foot and recommend a custom diabetic insole, according to your doctor's prescription.
EOPYY (ΕΟΠΥΥ), Greece's national health insurance organisation, distinguishes two categories: therapeutic diabetic shoes with insoles, and custom shoes made from a cast for feet that need something fully tailored. Which category you need is stated on your doctor's referral; we will explain what each one means and which models are suitable.
As a contracted EOPYY provider, we dispense your doctor's referral for people insured in Greece. Under the Single Health Benefits Regulation (EKPY, Government Gazette (ΦΕΚ) B' 2106/2025, Article 46), the insured person pays a 25% co-payment. As an indication, the maximum reimbursable prices according to Government Gazette B' 1079/2022 are:
| Item | Maximum reimbursable price | Replacement |
|---|---|---|
| Therapeutic diabetic shoes with insoles (pair) | €115.00 | 2 pairs every 2 years |
| Custom therapeutic diabetic shoes, made from a cast (pair) | €330.00 | Every 2 years |
| Custom diabetic insole | €34.00 | Every year |
| Offloading shoe (half shoe) | €38.00 | Every 5 years |
These are maximum amounts, not guaranteed; the final reimbursement depends on the referral and on EOPYY's review. If you are not insured in Greece, EOPYY reimbursement does not apply; you can pay privately, and any cover depends on your own insurer's rules — contact us and we will give you the information you need for your case. This information is correct as of the date of the last update. See our EOPYY reimbursement page for details.

Diabetic shoes are specially designed to protect against friction and pressure: they have no internal seams, plenty of room, and are worn with suitable insoles. This matters when sensation in the feet is reduced and a small rub may not be felt.
Shoes for people with diabetes are designed precisely for feet that need protection, as in neuropathy, where a small rub may not be felt. Your doctor decides which shoe and insole you need; we take care of choosing the right pair and making sure it fits properly.
