Össur Rheo Knee: the knee that learns how you walk
Össur’s Rheo Knee is a microprocessor knee that “learns” the way you move and adapts automatically, for comfortable walking at any speed, on slopes and on steps.
Össur’s Proprio Foot is a prosthetic foot with a microprocessor-controlled ankle: it lifts the toes with every step and adapts to ramps, stairs and different shoes.

Most prosthetic feet have a fixed ankle angle. Össur’s Proprio Foot is different: it is an adaptive, microprocessor-controlled ankle that changes position according to the ground and the activity, as a natural ankle does. That is why we often call it a “smart foot”. At Hlamidis Orthopaedic Center in Thessaloniki we fit the Proprio Foot on both below-knee (transtibial) and above-knee (transfemoral) prostheses.
Sensors continuously record the movement of the prosthesis. When the foot is in the air (swing phase), the ankle actively lifts the toes of the foot, increasing ground clearance and reducing the risk of the foot catching and you tripping. After a few steps uphill, downhill or on stairs, the system recognises the terrain and adjusts the ankle angle for more natural, comfortable walking.
With the Össur Logic app, the prosthetist adjusts the foot’s settings and views activity reports, while you can realign the ankle when you change shoes and keep track of your steps and battery.
The Proprio Foot is intended for people with a below-knee or above-knee amputation and a low to moderate activity level (K2–K3). In simple terms, for people who walk outside the home and around town, climb stairs and kerbs or walk on sloping streets, and want more safety and comfort in these everyday situations. It can be combined with a microprocessor knee, such as the Rheo Knee, in an above-knee prosthesis. The choice is made after an assessment, together with your doctor.
We start with an assessment and make a socket tailored to you — first a test socket and then the definitive one. We set up the Proprio Foot for your gait and train you in the training area at our premises, with a ramp and stairs, so that you get used to how the ankle adapts. With regular check-ups we continue adjusting the settings as needed.
The biggest change users notice is on slopes and stairs, where the ankle no longer “cuts short” the step. The system needs a few steps on each new surface to recognise it, which you will quickly get used to. We show you how to adjust the heel height when you change shoes and how to look after the foot and its battery, so that you can use it with confidence every day.
The price of the Proprio Foot depends on its configuration and the other components of the prosthesis. EOPYY (ΕΟΠΥΥ), Greece’s national health insurance organisation, reimburses people insured in Greece for prosthetic feet according to the categories in its price list. As an indication, the maximum reimbursable price for a high-performance dynamic (energy-storing) foot is €1,078, according to Government Gazette (ΦΕΚ) B' 1079/2022, with a co-payment by the insured person of, as a rule, 25%. A microprocessor foot is not fully covered: the difference is paid by the patient. We will tell you the exact amount in your case. See our page on EOPYY reimbursement. If you are not insured in Greece, EOPYY reimbursement does not apply; you can pay privately, and any cover depends on your own insurer’s rules — contact us and we will give you the information you need for your case. The EOPYY information is correct as of the date this page was last updated (October 2026).

The price depends on the configuration of the foot and the other components of the prosthesis, such as the socket and suspension system. We give a price after an assessment, with a detailed proposal. For people insured in Greece, EOPYY covers up to the amount of the relevant prosthetic foot category and the patient pays the difference. Call us on +30 2310 282 894.
Yes. The Proprio Foot can be adjusted for heel heights of up to 5 cm. When you change shoes, you press a button or use the Össur Logic app and the ankle realigns automatically, so the prosthesis stays correctly aligned and walking stays comfortable, whichever pair you are wearing.
The Proprio Foot has an IP67 protection rating, which means protection against dust and against temporary immersion in water. So rain and splashes in everyday life are not a problem. When we hand over the foot, we explain the manufacturer’s instructions for use near water in detail.
Yes. The Proprio Foot is fitted for below-knee amputation and also for levels above the knee, where it can be combined with a microprocessor knee such as the Rheo Knee. Suitability is decided after an assessment, based on your amputation level, activity and goals.
The built-in battery lasts up to about two days, depending on how much you walk. You can check the charge level with a button on the foot or through the Össur Logic app, and for most users charging overnight is enough.

Microprocessor knees look alike, but they are not the same. We compare the C-Leg, Genium X3, Rheo Knee and Power Knee using manufacturers’ data, and explain cost and EOPYY.
